Japanese Interior Design

Simplicity attracts brilliant and positive thoughts. It is as though you are compelled to contemplate new philosophies and ideas when you are within a bare room. It allows you to dream of making ships and building towers in order that the world will benefit from your lofty ideas. It seems that the value of Japanese interior design lies in the creation of simple interiors with great potentials to permit the people within to go about their lives with constant vigor and consistent productivity. The elements are controlled in their colors, styles and distribution so as not to hinder on the path of human growth.

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Japanese Interior Design

Japanese interior design is composed of simple indoor structures, unadorned furnishings and one or two focal points. These interior elements combine in a harmonious way, each element playing its part to enhance the appearance of a space and come up with the perfect balance of austere environment and tranquil indoor setting. It is the aim of Japanese interior design to be functional and beneficial, and at the same time, to infuse beauty in the most unexpected places and the most inconspicuous elements. The rich texture and subdued color of the tatami mat can seem negligible but in an interior that is clean and simple, the tatami mat blends and adapts rather well. The appearance of the shoji screens as wall partitions, although uniform and continuous, creates an understated elegance that cannot be compared to the warm and appealing texture of a brick wall. The interior elements can stand their ground when placed beside their much more detailed and elaborate counterparts. The austerity and beauty of the traditional Japanese garden placed outside the house or in the courtyard bears a vivid contrast to the floral gardens outside English country homes. The color of the plants and flowers remain warm-toned and earthy instead of vibrant and colorful.

Each element in a Japanese style interior is intended to be a cooperative participant in the enhancement of the entire space. They would rather blend in than stand out. Everything is flowing and continuous just like the breeze that circulates within a Japanese home. The walls have one uniform and cohesive detail just like the floors and ceiling. The furnishings are simple with plain solid colored fabrics. A lacquer armoire and blue and green vases can break the monotony but only in a very subtle way that still doesn't interrupt the overall look of the interior, rather they polish it and make it more memorable with their presence.

Basement Interior Design

Design Specifics

Basements are always beneath a regular building, and nearly always below ground level. Basement interior design must, therefore, require careful consideration as to how sufficient lighting will be provided in lieu of natural light. Normally, basements have a tendency to be dark and dingy before they are transformed by a qualified designer. A rather interesting consequence to this is that most basements have no windows. Therefore, most likely in your average basement interior design project you will have no consideration of window coverings. Unless, of course, the design requires that there be faux windows. In this case, your basement interior design project may turn out to be more expensive than an average family could budget for.

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Basement Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Basement Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Basement Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Basement Interior Design

Consideration should also be given regarding for what purpose the redecorated basement will be used. If your client is considering a basement interior design project to add a bedroom, play room or study, the design parameters are fairly easily determined. However, if your client is an artist, the requirement may be quite different. This artistic client may be launching into a basement interior design project to create a paint or sculpture studio, a practice dance floor or perhaps even a recording studio. In such situations, your interior design skills may be severely tested, as some unique construction may be required.

Construction Requirements

The idea of build out construction may be included in most basement interior design projects. This may include redesigning the entrance to the loft, but most often it involves paneling walls and closing in pipes and wiring. If the basement is of a good size, or if the project includes more than just adding additional living space, walls and doors mat be added to your basement interior design project.

Bottom line, perhaps the key thing to keep in mind regarding a basement interior design project is the consideration of cost versus value and necessity. As you are extending an existing structure, it is very likely that the client has a limited amount of funds available for their basement Interior Design interior design project. Unless this client is fairly wealthy, or perhaps an artist with a specific goal in mind, wisdom dictates that you consider their budget as you present your recommendations.

Bedroom Interior Design

The bedroom is the most important place in your house after your kitchen. Although the bathroom too takes a very prominent place in your house, the bedroom is by far very important. Therefore bedroom interior design is very important so that the room in which you spend most of your time is worth it after all. However, there are certain rules that you need to follow when you are thinking about bedroom interior design and these can be anything from colors to furnishings etc.

For example, using very bright or loud colors in your bedroom interior decor is a very bad idea since it completely out does the purpose of the room and makes it look like a nursery! It actually has to be very calming and soothing rather than being very rough or whatever. So, when you are choosing the color of your bedroom you need to use neutral colors and others that are at the least soothing.

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Bedroom Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Bedroom Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Bedroom Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Bedroom Interior Design

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">Bedroom Interior Design

Now, the first step to decorating the inside of your bedroom is to choose what all furnishings you are going to place inside it. The fabric of the furnishings and the curtains matter a lot because each one adds up to what the whole room is going to look like. Sometimes, getting the walls decorated with very nice paintings of sunsets or moonlit nights helps create a very nice ambience in the room. If you know someone who is a photographer and has such photos in their stock then you can use these photos as blueprint to create the walls.

Another very important factor that you should keep in mind for your bedroom interior design is the flooring of the room. When everything is being perfected why not the flooring? You can create good floors without using marble of granite or the many other conventional stone slabs that are in fashion nowadays. Wood or even wool would be a perfect choice for your bedroom and this would end up making your bedroom interior design an unique one.

Luxury Interior Design

If you love your home, you'll no doubt have put a great deal of thought and effort into getting the interior design just right. Sometimes only luxury will do: it makes all the difference to an interior, and makes you feel rather special. And rightly so: after all, if you've worked hard for a beautiful house, it's worth investing in an interior design that creates a feeling of luxury.

Exclusive design is about much more than paint, wallpaper or ornaments. It's about creating an atmosphere of genuine luxury; a feeling of sheer opulence that makes you want to spend as much time in your interior as possible. exclusive design appeals to all the senses; it makes you feel alive; honoured to be there. No surprise, therefore, that many design experts opt for high-quality metallics and natural fabrics when designing for luxury residences. Furniture that is embossed with gold and silver; exclusive fabrics and genuine animal skins; antique objects d'art from high-class auctioneers: the work of an exclusive interior designer is very detailed, and will focus on creating the precise atmosphere and ambience that you want from your home's interior.

Consider some of the best-known interiors in the world. The Palace at Versailles, for example, is a shining example of exclusive design. The finest French designs, the most opulent furniture and carpeting; rare pieces of art and intriguing ironwork... all combine to create an interior that is sheer luxury; quite unmatched anywhere in the world.

The Newport Mansion, too, are a superb example of exclusive design. These fabulous homes were once owned by the Vanderbilts - a family whose wealth and status meant that they could afford phenomenal enhancements to their interiors. These mansions, perched on the edge of the Atlantic, are a hymn to interior design: a veritable monument to the world of luxury and status.

Cities such as London, New York and Paris are an excellent hunting ground if you're seeking design ideas to create an exclusive interior of your own. Head for hotels such as The Ritz and The Savoy in London: both fabulous examples of design. If you ask politely, the concierge may even allow you to take a photograph or two. In New York, The Mercer is a wonderful example of luxury interior design. Fabulous furniture, stunning artwork and high-design ornamentation all add to the feeling of opulence and luxury. Here is a hotel interior worth lingering in: it would be hard to imagine a better example of interior design.

Hotel Interior

Before designing a hotel there are a lot of aspects that one needs to keep in mind like getting the perfect ambiance, an inviting atmosphere, adequate space, cleanliness of the rooms, view from the rooms, if any, etc. While designing a hotel, hotel interior designers take care of all these features and come up with a design that is rewarding for the owners and eye-catching and attractive for the customers.

Hotel industry has been gaining a lot of popularity now-a-days, this is the reason that the hotel interior designers are charging them up to create a design that is completely attractive and unique from the others.

Being a hotel interior designer, it is their duty and responsibility to specialize in aspect and part of designing a hotel. He has to follow a particular step by step process:

Whether you are a new hotel designer or an old one it is very important for you to register yourself in the local listings. This enables the customers to find you easily. You can also add in your details in an online directory or create your own website. Your website will contain all the details about your work and some samples for the customers to refer to.

When a person contacts you, you should first show him all the projects that you have handled till date for the person to select one or you can also ask for the customers ideas that he wants to put in, in his hotel design.
It is also imperative for a hotel interior designer to let the customers know about his pricing well in advance. It is often witnessed that the customers are against the price that are offered by the designers and are always willing to reduce it. Try not to get influenced by the customers and stick on the price that is suitable to you.
Ones that you have taken the contract give in your 100% to provide your client with the best of what they desire. Amalgamate your clients ideas with your creativity create an interior that is inviting and eye-catching for the customers.

Make sure that your hotel interior design is different from the others in the area and the design that you choose takes care of even the smallest part of the hotel like the beautification in the hallway such as wall hangings, paintings, etc., presence of small necessities such as ashtrays, towels in the wardrobe, etc. and the lightning's in the rooms and the hotels, etc.

New Zealand Interior Design

In terms of architecture and interior design, New Zealand is a relatively young country when you compare it to the likes of America and England. The design choices, both interior and exterior, have traditionally mirrored that of the countries where most migrants originated from - predominantly the Pacific and Europe. However, over the last few decades New Zealand has developed its own tastes and architectural design elements that blend together the built environment and the unique surrounding natural environment. To compliment this style, interior design has also changed. New Zealand has created its own style that celebrates its heritage, and combined it with modern touches and creative flamboyance.

If you look back to the first half of the 20th Century, New Zealand homes were decorated very sparsely. Traditionally interior decorating included antique furniture, floral print fabrics, fine bone china and sparsely decorated rooms. By the 1940's state housing was predominant and interior decorating remained minimal.

< imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">New Zealand Interior Design

Post-war immigration during 1950's could be seen as a starting point for subtle changes to our interior design choices. New Zealand experienced a large influx of immigrants leaving post-war Europe, including architects who brought with them the principles of the 'modern' architectural movement. At this stage Scandinavian designs were also taking the world by storm - both for exterior design and interior wooden pieces.

The 1960's and 1970's saw the beginning of more Pacific influences in design. Colourful and adventurous fabrics started to make their way into New Zealand homes. These fabrics complemented the new 'open plan' living and 'indoor-outdoor' flow of homes that started to emerge during the 1970's. At this stage New Zealand's distinct design tastes began to emerge.

By the 1980's there were a broad range of architectural styles available - colonial, American colonial, Cape Cod, Ranch, Swiss, Japanese and English country, Mediterranean, to name a few. As a result interior design also started to become more creative, and many consider the mid-1980's as the coming of age of interior design in New Zealand.

Over the next three decades New Zealand homes became truly international. All designs were tried, and architects also started to construct houses to fit New Zealand's unique environment. Homes were built to maximise sunlight with main living areas facing north, allowing more natural light. The open-plan look became the most popular with less internal walls and better flow, again taking advantage of natural light. And New Zealand's popular pastime of entertaining around the barbecue meant the popular indoor-outdoor flow was here to stay.

As a result, interior design changed also. Over the next three decades designers mixed all the cultural influences of European and Asian migrants with Maori and Pacific design, to emerge with what has become a distinct New Zealand style. Many homes started using fabrics and patterns that mixed outdoor elements with indoor décor colours. Interior designers combined different patterns and textures to bring homes to life.

Now you will find a mix of interior design choices in New Zealand homes. Floral, stripes, Maori koru and weaves, earthy tones and bright pacific colours all cleverly blended together to create a unique style. As well as the popular Pacific theme, many modern homes combine classic or antique pieces with modern décor, and retro interiors are also currently in vogue. Fabrics range from classic linen, cotton, and silk to new fabrics such as bamboo, merino and possum fur (sourced in New Zealand).

This comfortable blend of Pacific, Asian and European styles celebrates New Zealand's cultural heritage. Combined with modern touches and creative flamboyance, New Zealand has truly created its own unique architecture and interior design.
